The Chair of Laser Technology operates various facilities and equipment on its own as well as in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology. At the Research Center for Digital Photonic Production (RCDPP), a biofabrication laboratory with 164 m² of laboratory space is available. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research branch, the biofabrication laboratory offers possibilities for both the chemical synthesis and modification of biomaterials, as well as for the evaluation of the materials in a biological context, in addition to laser-based methods for material processing and analysis.

The chemistry work area is equipped with fume hoods, vacuum pumps, rotary evaporators, ultrasonic baths, UV chambers and a vacuum drying oven for the synthesis and modification of biomaterials. Cell colonization and maturation studies are performed using established cell lines in the laboratory's biology workspace. This includes Class II biosafety cabinets, CO2 incubators, and a drying oven and autoclave. Additional biological investigations can also be carried out in the biosafety level 1 laboratory at the Fraunhofer ILT.

Furthermore, various facilities for the production of biocompatible scaffolds as well as imaging techniques and equipment for mechanical and chemical characterization are available.
